About the Instructor

I'm excited to guide you through the essential HR, labor, and employment concepts that are pivotal to your success as a manager. My journey in education began as a proud graduate of Beaumont Independent School District, followed by earning my degrees from the University of Oklahoma and Duke University School of Law.

With over 20 years of legal experience, I've specialized in labor and employment law for the past eight years. As a certified HR professional (SHRM-CP) and a licensed attorney, I've reimagined complaint investigation and resolution processes, reducing EEOC charges by 75%. I've also mentored employees into senior management roles and designed impactful training for hundreds of supervisors.

As Director of Personnel Services and Learning and Development, I've led teams through complex issues like attendance, leave, accommodations, and performance management. I'm well-versed in navigating laws such as the FLSA, ADA, FMLA, and Title VII. My training expertise is backed by instructor-led, participant-centered training in instructional design and interactive virtual training. I currently serve as the Assistant Director of HR for Employee Relations for an organization with over 6,500 employees and 150 departments.

I'm here to share my knowledge and experiences to help you navigate the HR landscape effectively. Together, we'll ensure you have the tools and understanding to lead your teams confidently and create a positive impact in your schools. Let's embark on this journey to enhance your leadership skills and achieve your goals.
